Dear Third Grade Families,
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I wanted to let you in on our plans for Friday. At the end of the day we will have some free time to hand out valentines, have treats, and make compliment banners.
Students will go to each of their classmates' desks and write a compliment or something they like about them on a heart. Once they've been around the room, they will read their compliments and glue them to a banner which they will bring home with them. Students always love seeing the positive things others notice about them and I'm sure they'll go home smiling ear to ear! :) If you'd have time to cut out/ trace some extra hearts Wednesday or Thursday night, please e-mail me and I will send some home with your child. I will start to make some with the dicut and can make time for the kids cut some, but it takes a long time to make 625 hearts!
Students are welcome to bring in Valentines, pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. I will attach a class checklist below. There are 24 students in 3B. If you would like to bring in a treat such as lollipops, starbursts, etc., please make sure that it is nut-free and processed in a nut-free facility.
Students have begun learning about habitats in school this week and have been assigned a habitat to research. Students will research their habitat in computer class and homeroom. They will bring home their research on Thursday and they will have 2 weeks to make a poster about their habitat. The poster will be due on Friday, February 26th.
Next week is February vacation for our school. I understand that this is a time to rest, relax, and enjoy time with family. I also know that parents are often seeking ways to review, challenge, or work with their child on certain things during the time that they have together. With that being said, I would like to offer to put together a small packet in the event that you would like to do some extra work with your child over February break. This work can be extra credit if your child is missing any work, but it is not required. It will be an opportunity for extra practice if you would like to do so with your child. I will differentiate the packets based on what your child needs to work on.
Please let me know if you would or would not like me to create a small packet for your child for February break by Thursday morning(this will help us save paper!). If I do not hear from you, I will send one home as an option.
Ms. Fischer and I are continually working to find ways to best support your child and we hope this provides an opportunity for extra practice for those who are looking for it! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Mrs. Hockey
